4th CrossGrid Integration Meeting
Schloß
Dagstuhl, July, 25-31, 2004
|
|
|
| Short description |
| The 4th CrossGrid Integration Meeting at
Schloß Dagstuhl is an internal
meeting of the EU CrossGrid
project, devoted to the integration of the software
developed within the project. The meeting is open only to
members of the project. |
| Detailed description |
Goals The meeting is devoted to the integration of all software
packages developed in CrossGrid. Since this is the next to last
integration meeting in our project, at the end of this meeting, we
should have a working prototype of the complete CrossGrid software.

here for a list of registered participants.
In this list, you can also find information about your accomodation.
Location The meeting will take place at the International Conference and Research
Center for Computer Science Schloß Dagstuhl, Wadern, Germany.
Schloß Dagstuhl is located in the Saarland, the nearest large city is
Saarbrücken. We will have accomodation (single and/or double rooms)
and full boarding in Schloß Dagstuhl. Besides a well equipped library and
computing infrastructure, Dagstuhl also offers leisure facilities, like
e.g. a music room with a piano and other instruments, a billard room,
bicycles, etc.
Travel information Please have a look at the "Guest Information"
page and the "Getting to
Schloß Dagstuhl"
page provided by Schloß Dagstuhl. On another page you
can also find a lot of links to further information.
Travel dates and times
- You should arrive on Sunday (July 25th) afternoon, after 15:00.
- You should depart on Friday (July 30th) afternoon or on Saturday
(July 31st) morning. There will be no lunch on Saturday.
Please try to arrive on Sunday and stay at least until Friday.
If you arrive late on Sunday (after 19:00), you will get a key code,
which opens the main entrance door (new building, below the bridge to
the old building). At the reception to your right, there is a list with
the room assignment, as well as an information sheet. You will find a
dinner in the cafeteria.
Cost and Payment The cost for the whole workshop will be
- 80 EUR per person and day, if you stay in a single room at Dagstuhl
- 50 EUR per person and day, if you share a double room at Dagstuhl
- 65 EUR per person and day, if you stay in Hotel Castello Bianco
(40 EUR for the hotel room, 25 EUR for lunch, dinner, coffee, etc.
at Dagstuhl).
- 60 EUR per person and day, if you stay in Hotel Steil
(35 EUR for the hotel room, 25 EUR for lunch, dinner, coffee, etc.
at Dagstuhl).
There will be an additional workshop fee of 25 EUR per person for
the usage of the meeting rooms and an excursion.
I.e., if you stay for the whole meeting (remember: you should!) and
leave on Saturday, the cost is
- 6 * 80 + 25 = 505 EUR if you stay in a single room at Dagstuhl
- 6 * 50 + 25 = 325 EUR if you share a double room at Dagstuhl
- 6 * 65 + 25 = 415 EUR if you stay in Hotel Castello Bianco
- 6 * 60 + 25 = 385 EUR if you stay in Hotel Steil
These rates include full board, i.e. three meals a day, coffee breaks,
a cheese platter in the evening, and the excursion. Beverages, phone
and sauna usage and various articles available at the kiosk counter are
charged for extra.
You have to pay the fee directly at Schoß Dagstuhl during the
Workshop. You can pay with Euro currency, Visa, Eurocard, Master and
EC-Card.
If you are accomodated in a hotel, you will have to pay the
hotel room to the hotel, the rest to Dagstuhl.
Excursion There will be an excursion on Tuesday
afternoon (approx. 16:00 - 23:00). We will visit Trier,
one of the oldest cities in Germany, which was founded over 2000 years
ago by the romans. We will get there with a bus, have a guided tour
around Trier and then will have a wine tasting with
a small dinner (steak and potatoe salad) in a nearby wine yard.
Some Notes on the Rooms
- The rooms at Dagstuhl are not locked. It is
the policy of Dagstuhl, that we trust each other. So please take this
into account. If you have any valuables, you can ask for a
locker.
-
In addition to the rooms in Dagstuhl, we use rooms in two nearby hotels:
- Castello Bianco
(6 double rooms, 3 single rooms): nice and
convenient, but you need a car (or one of Dagstuhl's bicycles),
it is about 5km away
- Hotel Steil
(8 double rooms, 7 single rooms): very near, but
the rooms are a bit "frumpy".
- Please note that there is another small workshop on
"Computational Geometry and Geometric Networks" in parallel to our
meeting.
Equipment Dagstuhl is equipped with a 2 MBit Internet access,
without restrictions by firewalls. There are several computers available
(mostly with UNIX), where all participants will get personal
accounts. The building is equipped with a WLAN (not all the rooms).
