Our Eclipse course has been awarded Eclipse Innovation Grant 2005 by IBM.
Starting from WS05/06, this course is offered for the outstanding students ("Elitestudium").
You might have used Eclipse to program Java, and overwhelmed by its convenience and rich functionality. However, Eclipse is more than a simple Java IDE.
"Eclipse is an open, extensible platform for any application".
Eclipse provides the basic platform for constructing rich client applications and IDEs, and is designed from the ground up for extensibility. It provides a powerful and flexible extension mechanism for discovering, integrating and running modules called plug-ins. Constructing client applications and IDEs as extensions to Eclipse platform have the advantages of both efficiency and quality over starting from scratch.
This lab course will introduce the plug-in architecture, the process and the tools to use to develop plug-ins. Hands-on exercises are provided for the students to work on. In the last part of this lab course, students will work on small projects in groups, building user interface plug-ins. The programming language used in this course is Java. This practical course is offered in English.
Student should have fundamental knowledge of object-oriented programming in Java, and have at least basic knowledge about XML. Knowledge of Java GUI programming will be very helpful.
Early registration for the WS05/06 is now open. Interested students can send email to lit@in.tum.de in the following format:
